So my life is going very well. I have a wonderful boyfriend and I'm finally in a place where I'm financially comfortable and can pay back my parents for buying me a car and pay off my credit card debt. Then Richardson springs this wonderful opportunity on me. They are doing a partnership with Lamar University in which teachers can get their master's degree in curriculum&instruction or school administration. I already have a master's degree in curriculum & instruction, but the school administration degree might be beneficial. I've never really thought about being a principal, but it would be a great thing.
Plus, the degree is only $5000 for Richardson teachers. So cheap. Richardson would front the money, but I'd have to pay back the money through payroll deductions. I really wouldn't be able to be debt free if I did the program, but it would set me up to make more $$ in the future. Decisions, decisions....
Any thoughts?

Well you know I am for it. Being young is about being in debt! But seriously, if it is a decision that will HELP in the future, then in my opinion it is worth it, its the decisions that HURT us in the future that we regret (or should regret) doing...
And another thought, would you be happier as administration or as teacher? Regardless of money, just do what you will be happy doing, thats what life is about. I want to spend as much of my time HAPPY as I can. And since we americans spend sooo much time working, we should at least be happy at work!
I think I would be happy. And like you said. I don't want to regret anything! I've always been interested in educational policy and this could set me up to do bigger things in the district. It really is an awesome opportunity!!!
I think you should go for it. If you have sincere interest in admin. then you can't go cheaper that 5 grand. Plus, it wouldn't take too long to pay that off. It's not like crazy debt that you'd be in for the rest of your life. Go for it if it'll make you happy.
