Just wanted to take a little time out to remember Heath Ledger. Even though I've only seen a few of his movies, I've always admired his work. I found out yesterday about his death, and it was the only piece of celebrity news that has ever made me choke up. I can't even imagine the pain his family is going through at this time, especially his young daughter Matilda and his ex-fiance, Michelle Williams.
I'm feeling like watching a Heath Ledger movie tonight. Maybe I'll do that while I fold clothes.

I love my dogs
I absolutely love my dogs. On Friday morning I was not so in love with Maya and her explosive diarrhea, but after we took her to the vet, she's been better. This weekend Murad is out of town visiting his daughter, so Maya and Sam have kept me company. Maya slept in the bed with me the first night he was gone. She even slept on his side of the bed. Last night Sam cuddled up with me. It's weird because they usually sleep under the bed, so I guess they took turns keeping me company!
They've kind of adopted my laid back personality this weekend. Usually they are up and running around with Daddy (Murad). This weekend we chilled and watched a ton of TV. I also did a lot of cleaning! Our apartment was a huge mess, especially after a lot of explosive diarrhea. However, Murad did a lot of the cleaning with that when he rented a steamer.
Well Murad and I decided to hold off on a house until after the wedding. Our lease is almost up and we have done no house hunting. Plus, we'd like to have a little more in savings. So, we're going to renew our lease and take our time searching for a house.
And back to the wedding. So, we visited City Place and it just wasn't what we're looking for at all. The $11,000 room with the downtown Dallas view was just too dark and drab. Our colors are champagne and periwinkle, so dark wood paneling and olive drapes will not go well at all. The other room was too big for our wedding size and the last two rooms that were in our price range were hideous. One was a glorified cafeteria and the other one had no windows.
So we're back to the drawing board. Dallas weddings are so expensive! We found a couple other venues that we're going to visit. One is in downtown Dallas. It has a high rental fee ($5000), but you can bring in your own caterer and alcohol which will save us a ton of money! It has a beautiful view of downtown Dallas and the ballroom is in a renovated old warehouse. The other one we're looking at is in Addison. It's a conference center that has beautiful windows. Another high rental fee ($3000). I'm glad I'm only doing this once!

Good News
Well this week has been full of adjustments for me! I went back to work on Monday. It wasn't too bad, but with ending the six weeks after Christmas, I had so many failing students. I had to scramble to get them to come in and make up their work, redo quizzes and tests and basically pass! Some of course didn't take my generosity and they're still failing.
Well Murad got some excellent news. First, he is officially a Texan and he doesn't have to pay a ridiculous amount to go to school here. Yeah! Also, his professor called him a few days ago to tell him that she was going to nominate him for National Association of Social Work representative. If he wins, he'll represent his school in the NASW. He'll also get to go to Austin to attend legislature meetings. I'm not sure what else it entails, but it sounds like some cool stuff. I'm so proud of him. He's worked so hard this past semester and it all paid off. He got a 3.5 and made some great connections within his school.
We're still looking at houses. Murad got laid off back in October so we've just been living off of my income and his student loans. Once he finds a job though, I feel that we can seriously start looking at a house.
Let's see what else. We're going to look at our first choice for the ceremony/reception this weekend. It's in Uptown Dallas and it's called City Place. Last weekend I spent like two hours making a spreadsheet of all the wedding packages I received. Then, I compared costs between all of them. Some were outrageously expensive! Like $3000 just to rent the room and then you pay like $50 per person just for food. Too much! Oh well, you can check out City Place at http://www.chgcityplace.com/

Happy New Year
Well it's January 3rd, which means there are about 23 days until my 26th birthday! I'm so excited for 2008. I know it will bring about endless challenges, but I'm ready for it. We've got to buy a house and plan a wedding 2008. We'll continue to raise our beautiful "kids" and both continue our education. Wow! It seems to be so hectic!
Christmas was great! We went home to Wichita on the 23rd. That night we spent time with my family and let Jasmine, my mom's dog, get acquainted with her niece and nephew. We also visited my friends Katie and Scott. They have two big dogs, Brasco and Miller, so Sam and Maya had a blast!
Christmas Eve was spent with the family. Murad, my dad and I went to church for the traditional service. Got to see some old childhood friends as well. On Christmas Day we opened gifts and then headed over to the Beal Barn (my aunt's guest house) for fun!
On the day after Christmas we headed to Meade, Kansas to see my future stepdaughter, Miss Abbygail Lynn Campbell! We had fun hanging out with her family and then we were actually able to bring her back to Wichita for a couple of days. We took her shopping for some new clothes and we took her to Exploration Place. We all had fun at Exploration Place. We got to see a cool cosmic show in the IMAX theater. I also had the opportunity to teach Abby the Cupid Shuffle. She's now an expert. In fact, when I talked to her last night, she told me she had been practicing. Unfortunately, we had to watch one of the most painful movies...High School Musical II. I guess it's one of Abby's favorite soundtracks, so we gave in and rented it for her. Murad couldn't stand the cheesiness of it, so he left me to suffer! AAAhhh!!
New Year's was great as well. We went to Kansas City to spend it with Murad's friend and I was able to see some friends of mine as well. I almost got into a fight with a girl at the bar, but luckily my fiance stepped in to save me! I'm a little too embarrassed to write about it on here. I'll provide details if you ask! haha!
Well, I guess that's it for now! Happy New Year!
